Limera1n jailbreak now available

The talented iPhone hacker geohot has just released limera1n, a jailbreak exploit that you can use on the Phone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, iPad, iPhone 4 and iPod Touch 4G.

This jailbreak, still in beta and for Windows only at the moment, will jailbreak devices running OS 4.0 and 4.1. According to geohot, limera1n is unpatchable.

This exploit is still in beta and you should probably wait a few days for all the bugs to be ironed out.

Geohot's release of limera1n managed to upset the schedule of another group of iPhone hackers, the Chronic Dev team, who were planning to release a different jailbreak called greenpois0n yesterday.

As a result of the release of limera1n, the Chronic Dev team has decided to hold back their exploit, called SHAtter. This is so that in the event that Apple is able to fix the security hole presented by limera1n, there is still a good chance that SHAtter, which uses a different exploit, will still work.

If you enjoy being on the bleeding edge, this walkthrough will help you jailbreak using limera1n. Note that iMerlion does not advocate jailbreaking and we will not be able to help if you have problems with your iOS device as a result.
