Apple is ending its iPhone 4 case program. If you buy an iPhone 4 after September 30, you can ask for a free bumper from Apple but the company will no longer offer the option of other types of cases as it does now.
"We now know that the iPhone 4 antenna attenuation issue is even smaller than we originally thought," said a statement on Apple's iPhone 4 Case Program page. "A small percentage of iPhone 4 users need a case, and we want to continue providing them a Bumper case for free. For everyone else, we are discontinuing the free case program on all iPhone 4s sold after September 30, 2010."
Users who buy a iPhone 4 after Sep 30 and who want Apple's free bumper case should call AppleCare to request a free Bumper case, said the statement.
Apple will also return to its normal returns policy for all iPhone 4s sold after Sep 30. Returns are allowed within two weeks of purchase and a 10 percent restocking fee will be charged on opened boxes. Currently, Apple allows returns within 30 days and does not charge a restocking fee.
